About Us

The Georgetown Choral Society has delighted audiences with their music since 1971.

Under the direction of A. Dale Wood, the Choir has approximately 100 members, and performs at a level normally associated with professional groups.  The choir performs a mixed genre of musical works and has performed at such locations as Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. We have also performed in Holland,  England and Ireland.

We perform two major concerts per year, usually repeated on two consecutive evenings. We also participate every year in Remembrance services in November as well as perform in benefit concerts.

Ontario Trillium FoundationThe Georgetown Choral Society is proud to announce that it was awarded a grant from The Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2006. The much needed grant was used to replace the female and male formal garments the choir wears at concerts, to upgrade the storage and tracking facilities for the choir’s large and growing music library, and to develop a new web site.

Artistic DirectorDale Wood

Dale Wood is a gifted musician who readily shares his passion for choral music. His lifelong musical career presently includes directing the Georgetown Choral Society, Achill Choral Society, and Georgetown Children’s Chorus, as well as teaching private and group lessons in Piano, Voice, Organ and Composition.

Dale Wood is a talented composer and choral arranger of new works for his choirs. He has taken the choir on several successful European concert tours to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

In celebration of his remarkable achievement of 35 years as Artistic Director, in the Spring of 2011 the choir performed Dale's brand new composition of a Requiem. Congratulations Dale, and our heartfelt thanks for three and half decades of musical leadership.
